Boeing and British Airways sign $529 million order

Tuesday, 12 August 2008: British Airways has signed an agreement with Boeing to order two Boeing 777-300ER jetliners valued at $529 million list price.

Four additional Boeing 777-300ERS options have also been secured by British Airways.

"Boeing and British Airways have a relationship that stretches back over the last 50 years and this order is a reaffirmation of this ongoing partnership," said Marlin Dailey, Boeing VP of Sales for Europe, Russia and Central Asia.

"The 777-300ER offers exceptional fuel economy and environmental credentials and will integrate seamlessly into British Airways existing twin-aisle fleet.

Boeing also announced another secured order for two 777-300ERS for GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) worth $529 million. This will increase GECAS 777 fleet to 25 where the planes have been placed on long-term lease with six different carriers including British Airways.

Currently the fuel efficient Boeing 777-300ER is very popular with more than 350 unfilled orders worth in excess of $91 billion.
