SAS Scandinavian Airlines Increases Traffic To China

Fri Jul 6, 2007: SAS Scandinavian Airlines will increase its frequencies between Scandinavia and China for the summer 2008 programme. As of April 2008, SAS will operate 13 weekly services between Scandinavia and China, an addition of three weekly departures.The increase is in response to the growing demand of traffic between Scandinavia and China. In March this year, a non-stop flight between Stockholm and Beijing was launched, complementing the existing Copenhagen-Beijing route. Next year, Beijing will host the Olympic Games between August 8 and 24, which will also significantly increase the number of passengers. "Our two routes between Scandinavia and China are performing strongly and we have identified an even greater demand of frequencies," says Lars Sandahl Srensen, Chief Commercial Officer, SAS International. "SAS is really committed to China, and thanks to our partner Air China, we can take customers from anywhere in Scandinavia to practically anywhere in China. We also offer greater flexibility and more choices than any other airline between these two regions." SAS passengers traveling in Business or Economy Extra are upgraded when traveling domestic with Air China. Business class passengers will travel onwards in First class, whilst those in Economy Extra are upgraded to Business. During the summer 2008 programme, SAS will operate a daily service between Copenhagen and Beijing, and six flights a week between Stockholm and Beijing. SAS focuses on Beijing as its Chinese hub as it offers connection possibilities to the whole of China. Beyond Beijing, SAS offers common rating pricing to destinations in China. SAS passengers in all classes can enjoy the free Meet and Assist service that is available at the airport. Air China will join Star Alliance later this year and the new Star Alliance terminal at Beijing airport will open next year.
