Windward Islands Airways International (Winair), a passenger airline serving destinations in the northeast Caribbean, has advanced its technology platform. (1/11/2007)Through a new airline hosting and technology agreement, Winair has adopted Worldspan MeridianSM, an end-to-end technology platform for airlines hosted in Worldspan’s global data centre. Meridian technology provides Winair with all core systems required for around-the-clock operations on the ground and in the air including complete departure control, inventory and reservations management systems; global fares and pricing capabilities; automation of global reservations and sales processes, and airport passenger operations; and much more. Meridian includes Worldspan FareSourceSM, a solution for distributing flights, fares and rules worldwide. According to Worldspan, in addition to the Meridian platform, Winair utilises several other Worldspan technologies, including the Worldspan InterchangeSM, an interline e-ticketing hub that supports the exchange of electronic ticket messages between airlines that hold Electronic Interline Traffic Agreements. The airline has also activated Worldspan Ticket to ConfirmSM, an automated inventory and revenue protection tool that takes action when bookings are not ticketed by the date and time designated in airfare rules. Additionally, Winair has adopted Worldspan SecuRateSM Air Plus, a web-based solution for managing private and negotiated fares.
